Inhabits the Black Sea, the seas of the Mediterranean basin, the eastern Atlantic (from Europe to Angola (WoRMS, 2017), the Red Sea (WoRMS, 2017) and in the area of Singapore (WoRMS, 2017). Inhabits the coastal zone, on rocks and stony placers. Usually occurs in the shells of Gibbula, Nassa, Rapana, but sometimes it also occurs in the shells of other mollusks (Kobyakova, Dolgopolskaya, 1969). Widespread species in the Black Sea. Often found on vertical surfaces of rocks among fouling. Juveniles are more common among large stones at the bottom.
