  Hippolyte sapphica d’Udekem d’Acoz, 1993 Larvae development
The species is known from the Adriatic Sea, Ionian Sea, Aegean Sea and Black Sea (d'Udekem d'Acoz, 1996). Of the two described forms of this species, only form A is rarely found in the Black Sea (d'Udekem d'Acoz, 1993). It tolerates a decrease in water salinity to 15 ‰ (Makarov, 2004). Recorded at Cape Tarkhankut (Makarov, 2004), in the Sevastopol Bay (Kobyakova, Dolgopolskaya, 1969), in Yalta and Sukhumi (Chernyavsky, 1884), and off the coast of Bulgaria and Romania (Băcescu, 1967).
