| Found along the coast of New Zealand. Papaka prefers sandy soil on beaches, harbors and estuaries. Occurs up to 100m, but the greatest number of swimming crab is noted from the tide zone to a depth of 10m. Crabs are most active at night when they go out into shallow water and feed on shellfish, worms, crustaceans, fish and algae. | ||||
