The marble crab is found in the northeastern Atlantic from Normandy to the Azores, in the Mediterranean and Black Seas (Kobyakova, Dolgopolskaya, 1969). It is a massive species of rocky-stony supralittoral and littoral to a depth of 7-8 meters. These crabs often land on land and can go without water for a long time. In summer, in the Crimea and the Caucasus, you can observe a huge number of marble crabs on rocky beaches and among the rocks. At night, single individuals are found at a distance of 3-4 meters from the water.
