It is believed that this species is distributed in all Arctic seas. From the Chukchi Sea it penetrates into Bering Sea to Cape Navarin, along the American coast it penetrates to Sitka. In the Bering Sea, it occurs at depths from 27 to 100 m, mainly on soft soils (silt, silty sand, clay) (Slizkin, 2006).
