Endemic shrimp of the Sea of Okhotsk. For the first time this species was described from the collection of P.V. Ushakov from the Sea of Okhotsk in 1936 as a related Atlantic subspecies P. aleutica glabra. Several individuals were observed at depths of 515 and 1076 m, on silty-pebble grounds [Kobyakova, 1936, 1937]. Later, in the work on the description of the fauna of the Kuril Islands, this subspecies was also noted at a depth of 1580 m, and on the basis of significant differences, it was identified as P. glabra [Birshtein and Zarenkov, 1970].
