| This crab is found in the coastal strip on a rocky, sandy and muddy bottom. Occurs in desalinated areas at the estuary of the Rio de la Plata. In the Atlantic Ocean, it forms local settlements in the states of Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul; found in the southeast of Uruguay in the departments: Rocha, Maldonado, Canelones and Montevideo; on the coast of Argentina in the provinces: Buenos Aires, Rio Negro, Chubut and northeast of Santa Cruz (Puerto Deseado). There is also a Pacific population that ranges from the San Lorenzo Bay in western Peru to Talcahuano in central Chile. | ||||
